  1. I have been using Nero ver 6 to encode and burn my VCDs for several weeks now. I have burned over a dozen movies with no problems using AVI files. All of a sudden whenever I do this now the burned copy only has sound through half of the movie then stops even though the AVI file has sound all the way through. I am referring to an AVI file that will fit onto one vcd (not a long movie). The video part is ok, it's just that the sound drops out. Does anyone have any idea as to what could cause this. I thought that maybe I had a bad file, but I have tried it on 5 different AVI files and they all do the same.

Make sure none of the files have any bad frames. When you are burning, turn off any unecessary applications. Finally, do nothing on your computer while it is burning but burning.

  3. Thank you very much for replying to my question. However, how would you know if you have bad frames other than watching the movie. I have done this using the AVI file in windows media player and there are no problems. The movies play fine all the way through. When I burn or while the file is encoding I do nothing else on the computer. I believe that this problem is going to be caused by something else like a bad codec or something of that effect. Like I said, I have burned several movies and had zero problems, now all of a sudden every one that I try has the sound to drop out during the encoding/burning. I am new to this and it's way over my head. I don't even know which files Nero uses to do the encoding.

It is always a good idea to try to solve your problems yourself, before asking for help. Anyway, click here to check for bad frames

  5. I'm sorry if that came out the wrong way. I did not mean to offend at all. I have tried everything that I can think of and I've gone through countless pages on this site trying to find the answer to my problem. Thanks for the link to the page that shows about the bad frames. I'll do that now and see if any of the frames are bad. I'll repost and let you know if I found any bad frames or not. There is so much more to learn about all of this than I presently know.

  6. TommyKnocker,
I followed your link and followed the instructions to check for bad frames. After I had done that this is the message it came back with.

(0 frames bad, 0 frames good but undecodable)

Woe is me... I just got lucky and was able to burn movies from the very beginning with no problems and now I can't burn any because of this problem I was actually hoping that bad frames was the problem. I would rather know what the problem is and be able to deal with it, rather than still looking for the problem.

Good, now try to encode the video with TMPGEnc, then have Gold Wave check and see if you have throughout your video.
    Hello.
