  1. I would like to convert all my old MTV videos to VCD format, which I believe is MPEG-1. I have transferred them to my DV Handycam, and then I am importing them one-by-one into Final Cut Pro. My question is, how to create a clear VCD ready format?

I used the Export "Toast Video CD" and have chosen the "Better" setting. But, video still looks rather pixelated when I view it on my TV from the VCD I burn it to. I know that VCD format is not DV quality, but the quality I am getting from Export "Toast Video CD" is no where near the quality of the VCD files I sometimes download from alt.binaries.mpeg.videos.

Should I save the videos in a different format and then convert them to VCD with ffmpegX?

    All help appreciated.

  2. You can export to .mov files at full quality of <74 min or <80 min duration depending on the CD you will burning to, then encode to VCD by using the ffmpegX "VCD" preset. Before encoding, disable the "Split in N chunks" checkbox. The output will be a .bin file you can burn in Toast VCD mode.
