Many would say http://www.rima.com
And they would recommend Ritek disks.
Many others might say shop4tech because they will have a lower price by a few dollars. I'm still deciding about them. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are improving their ways, simply because I can't believe that everyone is out to screw you all of the time. I have to believe that sometime people wake up and realise that what they have been doing is wrong! And then they fix it, or die.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
village idiot,
thanks for your reply. I purchased some from Meritline that were not good. So, I am looking for other vendors to purchase from. -
I purchased some Ritek G04's from supermediastore.com, no troubles with them in an NEC ND-1300A so far, all burnt at 4X, all flawless thus far.
-
I haven't bought them yet So I cannot recomend either the disks nor the store, but...
Rima riteks 100 pack is $5 less after ADDING the shipping charges than Shop4tech with the free shipping was.
That was on Ritek disks, printables. I was trying to compare same disks. -

This week CompUSA has all Memorex DVD media 40% off, sometimes retail stores' sale prices are better than online. -
It has nothing to do with where, it has to do with what. What brand did you buy from Meritline that gave you problems?
-
I purchase from Meritline as well, and have found them to be great. I use Optodisc media and have had very good luck with it.
Edit: They carry many different brands of media. It is the media the counts. When selecting an on line vendor consider price and service. You create your own reality. Interested in media servers and HTPC? Can we talk? -
I can't believe someone is saying meritline AND optowrite discs are good
oh man...
just wait...you'll see -
I just ordered Ritek 4x from meritline.com. They have pretty good service, no complaints.

Saminia: Not Optowrite, Optodisc. There are a few "opto" makes out there. I have burned about 150 DVD's with no problems. As they say, what works, works. Meritline's shipping has been fast too.

The media I purchased from Meritline were Ritek 4x media. I think the problem was in part the way they package the bulk media (bubble wrap around discs) because some discs were scratched. Also, it might have been a bad batch of Ritek media. The delivery was fast, though.
I have tried silver top 4x Ritek media that came in a spindle and had no problems with those. This is why I thought that it was wierd that I was having problems with this media. So, the media I purchased, according to what I heve read on this forum, is not Sh**ty. The problem I noticed with this media is that if the writable surface is not perfect (scratches, dust, finger prints, etc..), data is not written to that part of the disc. This shows up as darker spots on the disc and this creates the pausing problems. -

Then also some burners or software might overlook some blemishes where others may totally crash, depends on the hardware and software.
Of course you should not be buying media with scratches, dust, finger prints, etc on it. If that's the way it came, then someone screwed up somewhere! But it isn't the medias fault if it got dirty after it was produced. -

I just recently bought BeAll 4x DVD-Rs from Meritline.com. Got them in good time and media came in retail package spindle and all. BeAlls are burning flawlessly on my Sony DRU500AX at 4x... better than the Riteks G04 that I got form Supermediastore.com. I don't think it has anything to do with the vendor. My drive seems to be pretty picky with Riteks. I've been able to burn 1 disk out of 5 at 4x so far.
The 50 pack of Ritek G04s from Supermediastore.com came shrink wrapped in RiData logoed plastic. There was no spindle. But there were two half inch thick plastic covers on the top and bottom of the stack. All my disks were undamaged and show no signs of fingerprints. It looked like is came as it did from RiData. -
NIIDeep,
What firmware version do you have on your sony?

I ordered a spindle of Rytek G04s. Shipped same day. UPS screwed up and delivered to the wrong address. After pressure on my part, UPS admitted to the screwup. SuperMediaStore was exceptionally helpful with this situation, and quickly sent me replacement media (arrived in 2 days). Now that I'm a customer, they send me weekly offers at amazing prices.
So far I've had 100% success burning the 4x Ryteks on my NEC-1300A.
SuperMediaStore.com
Great prices, great people. How a company deals with a problem says a lot about that company. These guys gave top notch service.
After reading the horror stories about meritline and the infamous counterfeit media they were pushing (and then just renaming it once it was proven fake), I'm glad I found another supplier. -
There is hardly any mom and pop places in chicago to find computer items. Only good places to go is microcenter on the north side or wait for a sale at best buy or compusa. I know there is one shop on north ave about a few blocks east of mcdonalds. Never been in there but it seems to have a lot of stuff.
