Almost fell of my chair laughing at this one. Doubt it. When you look at the developer of this product you will understand.

  3. Holistic, I checked your link, good info.

This is probably just a step towards the next generation since the wavelength is only 405nm. Currently in the semiconductor industry we are resolving lithography in the DUV at 193nm to pattern < 0.13um geometry. If the same principles apply then the next laser resolution past blue ray (405nm) will be 365nm, 248nm, 193nm, 157nm...................

Don't worry about it until it gets here. You never know if these things will get past the demo stage. Most technology doesn't. Too much hype on Blu-Ray.

  5. Info on the different competing formats:
    http://www.hddvd.org/hddvd/difformatsblueray.php

Then there's the One Format Only Campaign to let movie studios and manufacturers to "agree upon a SINGLE, unified format before making any such format available to consumers."

I appreciate all of their efforts, but with millions of $$$ in royalty at stake I think they're fighting a losing battle here.

    The village idiot,

In holistic's link http://www.dvd-makers.com/public/810.cfm?sd=116 it stated that there will be 3 different capacities:23GB, 25GB, and 27GB. The price of the 23GB disc being around $30.
