  1. exactly how many times doe,s dvd2svcd test encode when converting avi to dvd?
    it seems to be going on forever?

  2. If you are using the default settings then it's 1 pass for the vaf file and 3 passes for the encode. I'm running one now where the speed is about 1.5 and it will take 7 or 8 hours for the encode. You can change the number of passes.

    this is the first time ive used this.
    could you tell me where and how to alter this setting so it will encode straight away?

  4. It's the Encoder tab - Video Encoding Mode.

    I suggest though, that before you change any settings, do some reading and get a better understanding of why the default is set up this way. The only reason to re-encode is to maximize video quality and changing those settings could affect that.

    I just realized that what I said earlier assumed you are encoding with CCE.

  5. no im encodeing with tmpg plus.
    i tried to get cce but i couldnt download it.
    your give sound advice though.
    i intend to read up about it.
    one more question though,when its finished encodeing do i have to use shrink dvd?

    No.

    But you might find that using Shrink instead of DVD2DVD will give you good results and it certainly is faster. I use Shrink for smaller movies and DVD2DVD for the larger ones.

    My experience is that the best burning software is the one that works in your particular situation. Based on what I've seen and read I won't recommend any particular burning app to someone unless they have the same burner as me.

    my burner is a tdk dvd writer.
    the software i have at the moment is nero 6.
    copy to dvd.
    clone dvd.
