  1. i just opened a movie file that is now a dat file and i was wondering how to get it to dvd quality if you know how please help the file was a svcd but i want to get it to dvd quality thanks

    dvd quality a misunderstood and abused phrase.

    I want to convert my chevy into a cadillac. It just can't be done.

    (ntsc world for discussion purposes)

    SVCD = 480*480 with 44kHz audio (typically) with average bitrates of 2500
    DVD = 720*480 with 48kHz audio with average bitrates of 4500 (we are not going to discuss the 3 movie per DVD thing)

    You can't increase the quality, the best you can hope for is to keep it as good as your source. Follow the guide that holistic pointed to if you want an SVCD on DVD.

  4. If its a dat file then the movie is a vcd, not a svcd.
