I had just bought a 100 pack of the new HQ 4x dvd-r. The first one seems to work fine with my pana E30. It also plays fine in my JVC 7 disc carousel and on my PC using powerDVD.
I was just wondering if the new HQ is a renamed discs that will fade overtime like the Princo, which many of us have complaints, I have none b/c I never use it. If not, who makes the HQ.
I know that is has purple writing side. So what does that mean?
Thanks,

Not to make you feel bad, but you asked..so i'll tell. You got some of the crappiest disks on the market period. Princo are poor for the most part too..but you got stuck. Keep an eye on the playback...forget about the burn process...the playback is where you'll almost certainly see issues.
There are three forumulas for those long..ten disks...and the second being better then the first...the thrid being the best. The first two are just completely horrific from my experience as well as many others. Do a search for "long..ten" media...and you'll see for yourself. If you don't feel like doing a search..don't worry..you'll find out first hand real soon. -
They also sell those HQ Discs at Fry's for $1 to $2.
Never had a problem with Princo 1x white tops. -

Not bad when I can pop one in at bed time and it's done when I wake up in the middle of the night. But when I need 4 disks durring the day like a play I recorded for cast members, what a bummer at an hour each!
Geuss I will upgrade soon, nearly out of disks. Gonna buy a 4x -/+ drive and 2x disks :P
Ok skip the new burner, will buy 2x disks though. -
I have'nt had a problem yet with a disc i have burnt on a long ten disc so i guess i'm lucky cause outta the 250 i have bought i have'nt had a problem with burning or reading these discs in my dvr-105 or in my mintek, apex, teac, ps2, xbox and hitachi dvd players.

How do u check the id of the disc where it shows the "long...ten" name?
Thanks -
decent media without sacrificing quality I have found is Piodata. 4x with very few failures and great playback. I just duped an order of 500 with 1 failure.
This place has them for $1.25 shipped not much more than these low quality discs shipped and much better reliablity I have found
