I bought a 25 spindle of these from supermediastore and they all burned beautfilly. I decided on a 50 stack. I have burned about 15 dvd's and all of them except 2 or 3 are bad. They are the generic supermedia brand. They start to pixelate and quit towards the middle of the dvd...I also notice physically the middle of the dvd they look scuffed of something...
Has anyone had any experience with these dvdr's or the vendor. They are the 1x-4x unbranded versions. Lot no. 33F142. VD Code D7AA.
Please help. I rather pissed.

If the bottom of the disk isn't pristine when you go to burn it, then of course you'll have errors playing it. The scuffed area is prbably affecting the burning laser power that is being delivered to the actual recording layer. Heck, I even worry about the oil in fingerprints defocusing the laser when it burns.
Sorry for the bad news, but they shouldn't have sold them if the are like you describe.

The scuff mark itself looks like it inside the dvd itself though, i am wondering about manurfacturing defect?

I'm guessing it may be between the laser and the recording surface and if the botton feels smooth and looks smooth, tilt the disk so light reflects off of it and see if it uniformly shiny(smooth). Then it may be a manufacturing defect and I'd contact the vendor. is the whole spindle like that, top to bottom? if so return them as anything that defuses (sp?) the laser from a nice tight beam will cause burn errors.
Good Luck
