    I want to take some video from my camera edit it on the pc then convert it to divx or xvid but still keeping good qualty. don't know much abotu captureing so i would like to know what i would need to capture and much it will cost.
    my camera has av outputs and an anolog output.

    Okay. First things first. Read the beginner's guides. They will help you get started more than anyone can, because they answer almost all the questions new people like you have asked before. I know, because when I started, they helped me as well.

    Now, your camera. You mentioned it has A/V out put as well as analog. A/V is analog, so I do not know what the other output may mean, although I believe it is S-video.

    Now, your capture card. My second card is a Win TV Go card that cost me $50.00. You may want to try that for a beginning. That really is all your cost should be for what you have in mind. The program I recommend is Virtual Dub and the video codecs from the Tools section at left. These do not cost anything as well.

    So you install Virtual Dub, your capture card and its drivers, hook up your camera to the capture card. Capture using Virtual Dub while at the same time converting the captured video to DivX. One capturing is done, you use Virtual Dub to edit out any video you do not need, and save it to disk as DivX or what ever you want.

    2. Iknow how to encode video files i just need to knwo the capture part.
    3.How good is the quality with wintv?What is the highest resolution?
