  1. I downloaded mpg in PAL version. The question is, can i burn this to a VCD and be able to play on NTSC TV? Or do I have to convert it to NTSC. If so, what softwares or tools should i use. Thanks...

You need to convert it if your TV wont play PAL, TMPGEnc has a NTSC template to convert to NTSC VCD.mpeg

You may also need VCD Gear to convert the *.dat file to Mpeg

The VCD will play on your computer in NTSC or PAL

  3. For the vast majority of DVD players it doesn't matter if its in pal or ntsc. If you want to burn the pal mpeg to a ntsc format vcd than yes you have to convert it. If you plan to burn it to a pal vcd than it'll be fine as long as its in the correct format (size, bitrate, etc...). I would have to say that more often than not your dvd will play the pal vcd on your NSTC tv.

  4. Thanks for all the input. One last question...would the quality for PAL VCD or NTSC VDC be the same if I play it in NTSC tv? Also, how long does it take to convert this? It took me around 3 hours for 400mb.

  5. The quality of the PAL VCD will be slightly better so leave it in PAL format if your DVD player and TV can cope with a PAL signal.

VCD resolution for NTSC is 352x240
VCD Resolution for PAL is 352x288

To be perfectly honest though, unless your TV is top notch you probably wont notice much difference if the orginal VCD is good quality
