  1. I am using Windows ME (Came with the computer) and heard I can only capture 20 min with that? What do I need to capture more? Do I need to change the OS?

I want to put as much video on a CDR as possible. But once I burn to a cd isn't the CD-R "closed" and I can't add more video. That's only 20 min per CD. Can someone shed light? I just did my first VCD and it says Capacity 2.12 MB Used 2.12 MB Free o MB

and there is 75 MB available on the CD-R
    Please help
    Thanks, LIsa

  2. Hi Lisa,

You seem to encountering the dreaded 4 gig limit on any windows OS below 2000. You can use AV_IO to capture and that can segment into any size you want. I have used it to capture 24gig of video.

    Cheers

  3. I know how you feel Lisa, I did my first 'big capture' last night. It was a 6 hour jackass tape that was 6.8 gig. I'm using Win2000 and captured with virtual dub. It wouldn't play with windows media player or open in tmpgenc.

  4. If you are capturing DV files, yes the limit to capture is actually 19 minutes, then when you encode that file to VCD compliant it get much smaller. If you are doing VCD's you should be able to insert upto 74 minutes of video (this might mean several files that add upto 74 minutes).

If you want to capture unlimited size files (limited only by the free space left on your HD) you have to go to W2000 or XP proffesional. I just edited and rendered a 14.4 GB file which is 1 hr 8 min, which after encoding for SVCD fitted in two cd's.

    Hope this helps
