I never thought I'd see someone bring up Vengaboys in this forum but tgpo, I'm with you on them. I loved hearing them when they first came out. They had that Euro-trance style that was very popular and energetic and just made you want to dance. There were other well-known groups among the airwaves that catered to this style like Aqua, DreamHouse, Alice DeeJay, etc...
But the majority of this people who listen to this types were either in their teens to under 30 and also aerobic fanatics. Off course, the older generation can love it too as long as their open-minded in all types of music. I used to DJ so of course I have to be open-minded.
I had a neighbor a couple of years ago that strictly played bootie, gansta, Blowfly music and back in the days techno Rave was a popular style among the clubs. He heard me play a few Raves mixes and surprisingly, he loved it and also wanted a copy. All that time I thought he hated techno. I was just playing loud to irk the sh*t out of him.
tgpo, though you're very late in boarding the Venga Bus, they're still a popular band.
Speaking of techno, they had a Love Parade festival in Berlin that attract over 1.5 million ravers. I don't live in Germany but that's impressive. Here's a link to one article. -

I can't stand Creed. Radio here in the States SUCKS!!!!!! The best station here left, Channel Z. They are now only in the North. All the DJs play now is teenybopper crap that is just repackaged and stuffed in their mouths over and over. Eminem, and Ja Rule, and Incubus, and crap like that get far too much air time. While bands like Space Hog, Fountains of Wayne, They Might Be Giants, Space, Bouncing Souls, and Less Than Jake get almost no air time. BOYCOTT RADIO!!!

Sorry, i'm a bit of a techno/happy house/sillycore head (into it at about 9 years old in the very early 90s, still not totally lost the bug), but Vengas are all of old, busted, slightly crap, and a whole raft of eurogaybiza.. if you know what i mean
( i also concur - tgpo, you ok? or just lathered?)
Until you're absolutely wasted on 3-for-1 shots at the student nightclub of course, and you start dancing to that kind of trash with all your mates, huge grins on your faces at the sheer badness of it.. yet it still has a rhythm and some kind of melody, so you dance.
and to "500 miles"-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more! -

He hasn't admitted that he's gay but he sure is a flamboyant in anything he does. It would be ironic if the people who selected the gay option in the poll actually owns a cassette/vinyl record/cd of Queen or Judas Priest. -

As in an extra circle of badness underneath "dude, they suck!"
Each to their own.
Now, what about Rammstein.. and Erasure? (and S Club 7/Steps)

The Vengaboys????
Ohhh, We're Going To I-beet-zah!
Sad, very sad!
This was music for 7 year olds. Probably very big with the Radio Disney crowd. -
It always sounds like they sing "We're going to eat pizza"
-
Yeah, it does sound like "We're going for a pizza"!
If you are going to record a song, it helps if you know the pronunciation of the title first!! -
Anything's better than the Euro-trash they play here (that includes the Venga-boys) Last time I heard, they broke up.
-
Boom Boom Boom Boom, if only that was the sound of them exploding.
I clearly remember the song being adapted to
"i want them in this room" *ka-clik* "Boom boom boom boom! die mother fuckers!"
It always sounds like they sing "We're going to eat pizza"
It amazes me that that kind of shitty manufactured music, designed to be cool this week, and **** next week, actually gets enjoyed by someone simply on the merits of the music, without any of the marketing crap telling you how good they are.
The radio in this country isn't great either. or at least last time i turned one on it wasn't. i don't actually own a radio, or even a boombox/ghetto blaster with a tuner. not even a radio alarm clock! even the car i've just bought is sans radio!!
good thing for MTV2, amazons' "try this!" list and kazaa, eh? -
Listen to BBC Radio 2, the only decent station in the country!
-
Yeah, my room mate Phill always listens to jonathon woss on saturdays. occasionally i hear strains of a good song i recognise coming from his room too. I dunno, i just prefer my good ol' CD's.

Radio 4 is better.... and R1 for short bursts now and then (before they get a chance to repeat the playlist.. so evenings with stuff like the Session is good - no fixed PL and lots of newness - avoid commercial repeat-a-radio like the plague!!!). Still can't disrespect the 2 tho. Lots of very good driving music and sunday-morning "urrrrgh my brain" easy-going material to name just two reasons.
And damn, i'm only 21-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-

Radio 1 would be ok if they got rid of that moronic Sarah Cox.

Sorry flaystus, seems to be a UK only discussion.
Due to the smallness of our nation our TV channels and radio stations get numbers.
TV goes
BBC1
BBC2
ITV (everyone calls it three, which is confusing now we have BBC3 on cable and sky)
Channel 4
Channel 5
and then the mess on cable and sky.
Similarly our radio goes
BBC Radio 1
BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 3
BBC Radio 4
BBC Radio 5 Live Extra!!
and then crappy local stations, and then the digital mess like
BBC Radio 6 Music.
BBC Radio Asia (or whatever it's called)
BBC Radio 1 Extra! (or BBC Radio Black as i've heard it called)
and world service.
You can listen to most of the stations from www.bbc.co.uk
Tell you who pisses me off more, mary anne hobbs. she does the rock show, and is just awful. i ended up going to a raging speedhorn gig because she played something good and said it was "the horn" when it definitely wasn't! evil liar!!
