  5. I have read tons of complaints regarding video capturing issues in this site.

There is a solution: a Digital Camcorder (Sony Digital 8 for example) and a Firewire card. It's a little expensive (about 600$ total).

    Here are the benefits:

    1) it works like a champ, never had audio sync, drop frames, etc... since it capture in DV. You simply connect

VCR <====> digital camcorder <=======> Firwire card in PC
    video in/out i.Link

(This is how I capture my VHS tapes to PC, NEVER EVER HAD A PROBLEM). The camcorder convert analog AV into DV format then transfer via Firwire to PC.

    2) you get a new digital camcorder for other purposes.

    ktnwin,

How do you connect the VCR to your Digital8? I have the Sony TVR130. I has the S-Video out and single audio out connectors, but I have not seen any audio/video input (aside from the DV link).

    Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Too Bad Kv5 I have the PVR and get PERFECT MPEG2 captures from Dishnet, DVD, Laser Disc and my Hi8mm Camcorder, I used the patches from their German web site with great results, I had the audio sink problems also, all you had to do was capture, reboot computer then it would capture just fine, I found a pattern,
    1st capture - fine
    2nd & 3rd capture - audio screwed up
    4th & 5th capture - audio fine again
I find it easier just reboot after each capture.

  8. For VCD only, PC-231 works good. Never any audio sync problems. For SVCD or DVD captures, PV-256C should do the trick. Both cards are real-time hardware mpeg capture cards with audio.
