  1. Hey,

I was looking into buying a card for capturing VHS/TV to VCD. Anyone got any suggestions? Price range of anything up to 250$(AU, in the good old OZ ) ...

I was looking at the Pinnacle VCD Studio, has anyone seen/owned this, if so whats it like?

    Thanks.

  2. I have the best capture with the Dazzle II. I tried all the cards in your price range. It also does this in real time using a hardware chip.

  3. I have just installed my new Pinnacle PC 10+ ($59 new/sealed from Office Depot).

Preliminary captures from VHS are very good quality (I am very happy). Great color rendition and sound sync. Movie software looks interesting and worth learning.

However, due to my lack of hard drive speed and space (ata 33 2 gig drive), I am unable to capture decently at above VCD resolution. My clips at low compression and are a little stuttery. I probably need to recompress them for smoother playback since my test system is only a Celeron 333, 96 Meg Ram, 2 gig ata 33 HD.

In a few months, I will upgrade to an Athlon RAID system and will post my findings under the Capture Card review. Great card so far. Very satisfied. And only $59 at my OD!
