  1. Today I went to my local CompUSA store here in Reno, Nevada and at first bought two 10 packs of the DVD-R with slim cases but at checkout the price came up at $6.99 each so for that price I bought five 10 packs. Thing is I have burned over 150 of these discs in the past and they always burn at 2x on my Sony DRU500ax. $0.7 each for 2x media is a bargain IMO.

    1) Yes, most of my burns are right to the edge.
    2) Here is what I get from ADVDinfo.

    Last weekend they were on-sale for $9.95 for a pack of ten. The normal price is $29.95 for a pack of ten. I was expecting to pay the sale price of $9.95.

    Yes the CompUSA branded discs.

  6. Ah I figured out why the lower price. Today only CompUSA is offering 30% off any brand DVD media so I got the sale price less the 30%.

    LD = LeadData = crap 1x (maybe 2x)

    For the quality, $35 is probably alright , though I'd surely never pay more, and never use the discs past about 3.5 GB.

    Great for one-offs or temp storage.
    I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

    I picked up 6 packs today for 6.99 also. I have used about 30 of the CompUSA DVD's from previous sales and have burnt data and home movies up to 4 gigs and haven't had any problems.

  10. If they are LD they are good discs. Just return them if its princo or cmc.

    Bob,

    Thanks for the followup. I drove to the nearest CompUSA (which is 70 miles away) and bought about 5 packs. Very good deal indeed. Paid only $6.99.

    Let's confirm that I have the same thing. The 10 pcs pack has a green label that shows CompUSA DVD-R, speed 1.x. The SKU# 289893 and the bar code reads as FS-PC 0-49696-10800-3 (Made In Taiwan). Each disc is silver (on the top) with COMPUSA logo on it and purple on the burn/writable side. It also says it has a 90 days warrantly on it.

    I think CompUSA is changing the labels from green to a dark gray with gold lettering. That's what I bought however they also had a few of the green label discs left. The SKU# is the same. Yes the discs are silver with the CompUSA logo.
