  1. I have SVCD's on some questionable media that skips from time to time. I want to replicate this disk with good media. I just purchased TDK CDRs, can I just do a disk copy or do I have to encode and burn all over again? I believe the mpg files played well on the computer.

  3. I guess what I'm trying to get at is - wouldn't pulling the mpg off a bad media result in a bad mpg? Detecting these skips are a bitch, I don't want to have to view the whole CD before determining if it's good or not.

I was just doing something similar, getting data from an SVCD that was on crappy media. You can extract the mpeg using Isobuster (look it up in the guides) and it will tell you if there are any read errors. You'll then have to re-author the mpeg to get an SVCD of course. It might be worth it as a way to verify the data, but no guarantees.

Sometimes, a copy can be better than the original. I've done it. Bad media, maybe a 1-second error, but the rest of it was just fine.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
