Hello to everyone
My DVD player (Sony DVP-PQ1 "Picot") doesn't read SVCD, but only VCD or SVCD with header trick (as explained in this page: http://www.vcdeasy.org/modules.php?name=_Guides&id=VcdTrick ), but, unfortunately, that procedure is for PC Users only.
The question: is there a way to multiplex a MPEG2 file for SVCD (with a "MPEG-2 Super VideoCD [VBR]" header) with a different header (the "MPEG-1 VideoCD [non standard]" header) ?
I've tried with lots of softwares, but still haven't found how to.
TYA, Cett1.

I got it, great !
I used: ffmpeg 0.0.7 to convert any movie in mpeg2 movie (choosing the svcd quick preset, and without authoring the movie), then I selected the movie stream and the audio stream in the "mplex" tab of "MissingMpegTool 0.9.2 (v 0.1), and selected the otption "MPEG 1". Then I clicked on "Mux" button, and the application generated a .mpg file.
Using "vcdimager" in "GNU vcdtoolsX 1.1" i created a .bin and a .cue files from the .mpg file, and burned the .cue with "Missing Media Burner 0.6.0", selecting the pop up menu option "Burn Multitrack CD-Rom-XA cue or toc".
It works perfectly !!!
Hoping it will need to other MacUsers....
Best regards, Cett1. -

No joy for me trying your suggestion: Using ffmpegx to create the SVCD files (based on the SVCD (NTSC) preset) and then using the Video Tools to mux the elemental streams (m2v and mp2 files) as MPEG-1 and postprocess / 'Author as VCD' does not seem to work when using VCDBuilder.
If I take a resulting .mpg file and add it to a VCDBuilder project, VCDBuilder recognizes it as an MPEG-2 file and allows me to burn it only as SVCD.
I have been having *great* success upping the bitrate with the VCD (NTSC) preset (to 2000 and beyond) and playing the resulting VCDs in finicky Sony players. They look good.
I would still like to try the header trick and hope to be able to do it ffmpex and VCDBuilder. -
