The PNY card is not a video capture card if that makes a difference. Its got video out only.

There both pci slot card interface. For capturing agp is way quicker. I have a aiw 8500dv i might be willing to part with,pm me if interested.

If you interested in great game preformance then there would be nothing like a $199 GeForce 4 5200 Ultra FX, same card design found in the Xbox but even better, or even a 4800Ti, but make sure what ever you get has 128 megs of ram and is DDR, the 5200 ultra runs at 665mhz also and thats stock speed not over clocked either.

I am not looking to capture, I only want a good graphics card. More suggestions, or comments on the 2 that I gave a link for, please.
THANKS,

go get u a motherboard that support agp.
they really don't put too much effort in pci video cards anymore
most companies stopped making them -
A few more comments would be very helpful.

kinda new to this he he -
The Geforce card is probably one of the fastest PCI video cards that I have seen and will leave the ATI 7500 in the dust. If you need the speed for gaming then get the Geforce, if speed isn't that important and you want to do some capture then get the ATI. If speed is really important then upgrade your mobo to take advantage of AGP and get the fastest video card you can afford, there's a far wider selection of AGP cards out there.

I have never owned nor seen an ATI card runnning, so I can't pass comment on them.
My PNY card runs very fast, very quiet and outputs a vibrant, razor-sharp image. It's a GeForce4 Ti4600, running on AGP4x. Drivers are stable, and it has given me no problems for a year now.
As I say, if you can see both cards running, it's really up to yourself to decide which you prefer.

I have the ATI 7500 AGP and it works great. I do some capturing from vhs, 8mm and satellite. I also have no problems on any games. I use to have the ATI AIW PCI version and it did quite well for a 16mb card. Actually I dont notice any difference on capture and very very little on games. I am very happy with ATI and will continue to use them.

What you have here are 2 very different cards. The GPU the NVidia is based on is much more recent that the ATI Radeon.
If you want capture and TV tuner, go for ATI.
If you want good game performance, go for Nvidia since it has more memory (remember that you only have a PCI interface, not a higher speed AGP) and the FX series is Directx 9-ready. (You need ATI 9000 series to take advantage of the Directx 9 capabilities)
Check out this site for product tests: http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/index.html
Bottom line: you need to define what you want to do with the card. -
Sorry, everyone.Correction I do have an AGP slot. OPEN FOR MORE SUGGESTIONS.
THANKS,

It doen't matter which card you get, they will both be bandwidth limited by the pci bus. The 33mhz pci bus has a maximum bandwidth of 133MB/sec. That's shared with all devices connected to the PCI bus (i.e. sound, network, capture... cards). Compared to a 4x apg bus that has a bandwidth of 1.0GB/sec (66mhz x 4) all to itself. Getting a video card with more memory will help a little cause the card will have room to store more textures. If you're want to game with newer game, or especialy future games (Halflife 2, Doom III), @ resolutions above 800X600 with decent detail levels you're going to have to get a motherboard with an agp slot.

I'd go with the ATI. ATI has always had superior 2d quality and the preformace is all around better especialy when you use AA+Anso @ higher resolutions.

What do you think about ATI AIW cards. Do they give good captures from VHS or should I just get a ATI graphics card and then get a capture card seperatly. Such as the ADVC 100.

I believe the AIW9000 is a good deal today. -
I know they make 9000 ATI for PCI.. I think hercules makes em.
