  1. wow i am getting so many question lol.... K well todays question is i have a AVI that i want to turn into a dvd but the size of the avi is in 789 Megs and when i go turn it into a dvd it turns over 6 gigs !!!! well thats not going to fit on a DVD+R.

    I was wondering can i use the dvd2avi program to make it small enough and then convert that into dvd??And if i can do this will the size be able to fit onto a dvd+R (4.7 GIGz) Well that was all for today Thnx :P

    depending on the app you're using to encode from .avi to .mpg, you should be able to lower the bitrate to get a smaller file size.

    lower the bitrate until you have a small enough file to author.

  3. The size of your encoded MPEG file is determined by the bitrate and the source runtime. That is: bitrate x runtime = file size Notice that the size of your source, resolution, CBR vs. 2pass VBR, high or low motion search, etc. etc. has ZERO effect on your final encoded MPEGs size.

    For any given runtime there's a bitrate that will will your DVD (from a 800MB Divx source expect the picture quaility to only be so-so thou). You can use a bitrate calculator ot determine this bitrate.

    Just enter your sources runtime (and audio bitrate), and you'll get the needed bitrate to fill your media. There are several good bitrate calculators out there, I just use the vcdhelp.com one under the Tools section to the left.
