DVD disc and sleeve images for labeling

I'd like to find a website that contains a jpg, bmp, etc.... of the disc and sleeve image that comes from the original disc. You know, the picture on the disc & sleeve. I've burned a few backups and I'd like to put "offical" looking labels on them. I don't own a scanner. Does anyone have a website to go to that has a collection of images?

1 you shouldnt burn movies you rented, it is illegal. (at least dont mention it, its like saying hey cops look at me I'm stealing this car)
2. You shouldnt put labels on your discs, it may make them unplayable.

And who needs labels anyway? The disc is either in the case or the player, do you really need to look at it much? A permanent marker is a much better plan, those labels can damage the recording layer or make the disks center of gravity move making it unstable.

you could make the case that they are charging for the bandwidth, or for the work involved in scanning and uploading the image - the image is free, but the bandwidth costs money...

it's becose every cover are in 300dpi uncompressed, so each is 3meg or more. They give oyu free 10 download for registering, when the first free 10 are downloaded, then you need to buy credit, upload covers, or register on an other email to have an other 10 free cover :P

Here is a suggestion for DVD art. At least for the sleeve/cover. I visit CDNOW and download the JPEG file they have for each movie. They have most of them, with very few saying "no image available."

Then with a little file manipulation, you can adjust them to the size you need. Quality isn't great, but it is just for a back-up, right? Otherwise, I suggest making photocopies of them to get really good quality artwork. I then use a jewel case layout in word, so I can get the name of the movie on the spine of a CD case, which is how I store my back-ups.

It works for me.

too much work involved with some of these methods, why not just buy the dvd again after you pay for the burner, the media, the labels, the ink from the printer and the time spent backing it up, going to cd now, printing etc...
I actually use a ptouch...gives "neat" look (minus the artwork). if i didnt have a ptouch i couldnt be bothered with making labels, i just use a sharpie (marker).

I don't believe the cost of a good backup is anywhere near the cost of a second original.

Yesterday I bought 30 Verbatim 2.4X for $1.10 each and never pay more than $1.90.

A www.dvdcoverart.com download is only 10 cents each which isn't bad considering their high quality. I've used cdcovers.com on occasion but the quality is really poor.

Add a case (30 cents at MicroCenter) and you have a fairly professional backup for about $1.50 to $2.30.

Don't know any stores selling originals for that.

I think everybody has their own standards for what is acceptable or not. I guess it is like when people had movies on tape. Then it was usually acceptable to have them handwritten on the label of the tape's spine. I only use a sharpie on the actual DVD, but I do print out DVD cover art for a CD jewel case for my back ups. If I wait and do several movies at once, it isn't so bad.

But its like I said, everyone has their own standards. I was just giving out an idea that I use. And that is only for case art.

dvdcoverart also has original covers created by their users. I'm a big cover freak myself and attempt to make decent covers but it's easier to download them.
