Sorry if this is in wrong section - but it it relative to editing!
Short story: New PC (P4-2.4, 512 ram, nvidia 440se,sound blaster, W2K PRO) latest drivers/codecs etc. While using any program for editing (I have been using spruceup to add simple chapters & menu's mainly) causes the program to crash. I can watch dvd's, vob's etc using PowerDvd no problem. I downloaded the trial version of DVD JUNIOR & that does the same as soon as I try to view the video.

I've seen various error messages from different prog's such as; lower screen resolution, no overlay, no codecs etc. The odd thing is that I have the same programs in my 'old' Athlon 800 PC with no problems. So is it a setup problem with the new pc? maybe a bios setting that I haven't spotted. Any suggestions will be tried, I've formatted & reloaded W2k also in an attempt to rid any rogue drivers - This new, improved capture/edit machine hasn't been used yet!

I have tried many codec packs, different dvd players (windvd crashes even on a real dvd in the drive!) then gave up & formatted AGAIN.

Thanks

Dave
