Hi.
I'm in the process of converting a series of 30 VHS tapes to VCD. Would I be able to use the MPEG files from the VCD's to then make DVD-R's? I'd like to make DVD-R's to increase the DVD player run rate from about 2/3's (VCD), to 88%, but I'd rather not have to go through the process of converting from VHS tapes again.
Thanks.
George

I believe you will need to convert the mpeg files to mpeg2 files using a tool like tmpgenc. You should create the mpeg2 file into 2 streams (audio and video), and then use Ifoedit to author them. Then you should have DVD compliant files that you can burn to DVD-R.

hold on and wait a minute ..
you can mpeg1 on a dvd but you need to make sure you are rendering to a correct resolution and bit rate and a number of other factors so that the files are compatable for dvd ...
some thing applies to mpeg2 .. -
