My problem with vcd's on my stand alone dvd player is that it plays fine until the last few minutes. Then it just stalls.
It also happens with one vcd disc with a few short movies on it, it wont play the end bits of all movies on that same disc.
The vcd's, i made from mpg movies with NERO, play fine on my PC and till the end.
The only clue i found myself is that it could be the burn speed.
Well i tried that and i have the same error.
I tried different media and brands and still no good.

i had this problemm as well let me see if i can help you, are you sure your only making vcds, cause a standard vcd is only 80 minutes long, most dvd players and corporations have deals with each other so that if there made vcd compatible they cant play the entire vcd, in my case i was making xvcds, and my toshiba was unable to play the entire movie, and i constantly wondered why....if you were to go back and get an apex player i guarantee it will play, those other dvds are proper dvd player drives, whil the apex dvd player is literally a computers dvd drive just hooked up to a mother and ran to the tv, its awesome, i make xvcds all the time with my double density cdrs, and render the entire movie on my apex player, also go to the compatibility section to see any reports on your player

Sounds like the problem I have with about 75% of all my DVD recordings ... plays fine up until the last 300 MB of video and then it starts getting pixelated until it finally locks up. I suspected the paper labels were the problem so stopped using them ..... and now, I'm back to the lockups without labels. My conclusion .... either the medium is not the same high quality at the outer edges, or ..... players get more critical at the outer edges and can't deal with increased complexity at the higher speeds .... I'm guessing the former rather than the later since commercial DVDs don't have the problem

Thnx for the quick reply. I know this player must ofcourse be a computer dvd player like most of the cheap players.
Player=Technika 1020 (i know, i know, my mom bought it for me o.k!)
Its just that this problem is so weird and i cant figure out the problem, it gets frustrating.
The thing is, i dont think it has to do with the cd, like i said even with more movies on that same disc, it will not play the end of each movie.
So either its because i burn them wrong or something else.
I know for sure it will play vcd as it says in the guide on this website.
I hope that i will get some more info, so i can get all the little pieces from this puzzle and maybe even solve the problem.
In the mean time i play all files via TV OUT. Works best for me. -
what im saying is, if you have the entire movie on one disc, its known as an xvcd, check see if your player is compatible with that type of media..holla
