  1. I have never been able to create a perfect VCD. The picture always skips. I have been using Nero 5.5 and HP CD-Writer Plus 8200. I have tried all burn speeds with no luck. Burning a VCD at 1x with Nero creates constant skipping. 2x has been my most successful with only minor skipping about ever 10 minutes. 4x creates random skipping every 4-7 minutes. The audio in all these cases never skips though.

CD-Rs I have used are Verbatim AZO Blue, Kodak Ultima Gold, Memorex and Memorex Platinum. Every CD-R creates the same skipping results, with 2x burning still being the most stable.

The only other programs I have used to create VCDs are WinOnCD 3.8 and VideoPack 4. Both those programs create constent picture skipping. Nero 5.5 has been the only luck I have had.

My DVD player is a JVC XV-521BK and is suppose to be able to play any layered CD/CD-RWs.

Anyone out there that can help me out.

    Thanks for your time

  2. First off, have you tried playing these back on your PC. It just may be that you have been creating perfectly good disks and your DVD player may not be living up to its advertising.
    Good luck

  3. I sure have played them back on my PC. They run fine. I have read in the "DVD Compatibility" list comments, and others with the same player (JVC XV-521BK) seem to be running VCDs find on theirs.

It seems that your files are not in standard VCD format. Use a video encoder to convert the files to standard VCD format and then burn with nero.

  5. The files are encoded with TMPGEnc using the "VCD NTSC" option. It that isn't standard, I don't know what is
