  1. Most of the guides start off by mentioning making my dvd rom region free.(for dvd ripping and burning) Do I HAVE to do this? And do I have to do it for the burner as well? I ran dvd genie to check my drive, but it says i have an rpc 2 (firmware) meaning I must change the firmware, correct?
The problem is that I can't find new firmware for my drive.

My drive is an Artec DHM G48....can anyone explain this for me?

  3. Really, do I NEED to region free my hardware in order to rip movies. I am not that interested in getting titles from overseas or anything. And the process for doing my particular drive (according to firmware.fr.st) is a major pain in the arse.

I don't want to attempt it, if I just really don't need it thats all.

  6. Even if you get DVDs from overseas. You will be able to rip them. Just not play them until they are decrypted onto your HardDrive.
