My brother wants to buy a camcoder here in the US, for use in Europe. The question is, if he buys a Sony Camcoder here in the US (NTSC) will he be able to hook it up to his TV and play the tapes he made on his television in Europe?

A US purchased camcorder will be NTSC BUT most european TV's are multi-standard, even if the fact is not advertised. So the answer is 'maybe'. It could even be 'probably'. But truthfully you won't know for definate until you try.

    Dont do it!
NTSC intrinsically has poorer quality than PAL.
Most european equipnment is not trully multistandartd but brovides quasi playback.
PAL camcorders are available in the USA
    Try www.southernadvantage.com
There are cheaper folk but those people provide poorer service \ warrany.
Good luck, this has been a real pain for me as I live in the US and my family are in the UK!
