I'm still searching for a good VCR to use for the playback and capture of VHS tapes, staying around $300 or less. Some of my tapes are things I've recorded off TV some are old prerecorded VHS tapes that may never be released on DVD. I'm not too concerned with features, just want high quality video and audio playback and a well built machine that's going to last a long time.

I think I've narrowed it down to the Mitsubishi HS-U778, JVC SR-V10U or
Panasonic AG-3200. I'm leaning towards the Panasonic or possibly the JVC mainly for their Video Calibration and Video Stabilizer features. I've downloaded all the manuals and the Panasonic and JVC seem to be almost identical machines with the JVC just having a couple more features than the Panasonic.

Any opionions on which would be the best option for this purpose, especially from somone who's used any of them? Know of any online reviews of these models?

    OK, this is the ONE.

    JVC HR-S5900AM
    6 Head Super Multi-System S-VHS Hi-Fi Stereo VCR

Offers True NTSC and Pal System Super VHS recording and playback!!
Used with the CMD-850 you will be able to play, convert and record PAL or NTSC tapes in TRUE S-VHS quality. No other system offers this feature.

See here, scroll to the bottom.
