  1. I own an All in Wonder 128 and am thinking about upgrading to an All in wonder VE or possilby 9700 if the price drops.

On my AIW 128 though when i select TV out, the tv always displays what is on the computer monitor and the computer monitor becomes scrambled in certain resolutions. I was wondering if any owners of these cards can tell me if this is different on the newer All in wonders.

What I would like to do would be have the display on both the monitor and TV (with the monitor not scrambled) and have the option to say have a certain window maximized on the TV and another one on the monitor.

Maybe i dont understand how TV output works but i cold have swore i had seen something like this before.

  2. Radeon cards are better than ATI legacy cards at displaying both but remember when you have tv enabled your monitor's refreshrate will be changed to 60hz(50hz PAL) and the performance of both will be reduced.

  4. Yes,ATI calls it "Hydravision" or you can use Extended Desktop and open a new window.

  5. This is possible without using the hyrdavision. The new card from ATI offer TV out and Duel Desktop. Duel Desktop would be what your looking for. I personally use the ATI AIW 7500 Radeon, but the Duel Desktop has been available since the Radeon Duel VE has been out. When you goto the display properites you will see 2 monitors, monitor 1 and 2, just right click on it and select enabled. This will turn the duel display on and exten your desktop. Remember though not all software is designed to work in the duel display world. This is where Hydrovision can be helpfull, as it will allow you to force certain things for applications. However, I would try it after you mess with using without. As for which card to go with, the 7500 AIW has been nice, and the 9700 and 9800 are both intrigueing. But more interesting than anything is going back to a separate TV card. It looks as if ATI will be releasing some fresh meat on the market soon. I tend to upgrade my video cards to often to keep buying the AIW series. I kept my ATI PCI TV Wonder card for quite a long time, until I wanted higher resolution capture ability. This will soon be available with a better chip as ATI has announced. So maybe the solution is a Radeon 9700 or 9800 pro.

    Good Luck
