Hi Guys, I am thinking of buying the ADVC 100 but am wondering if it is the case that to capture VHS the VCR needs to have s video / composite video out??
My VCR has neither of these. Just the normal sockets to connect to TV. I hope I am wrong because I want to connect as soon as I get the ADVC 100 and just start capturing straight away instead of having to buy a new VCR for the job.![]()
Any feedback would be appreciated.

The Canopus ADVC-100 has audio/video in/out RCA jacks. Also S-video in/out. So you need firewire card for pc to get DV from the ADVC.

Most new VCR's ( circa 1990's ) have RCA inputs/outputs ( the red/white/yellow thingies or if your VCR is mono, a yellow and white ). Your VCR need to have at least that to connect it to the ADVC-100 and of course a firewire card on the comp.
