Is it possible?

I'm working on a 3D animated movie. Right now, I have 6 audio files, one for L, C, R, LS, RS, and LFE. Is it possible to bring them together in BeSweet and make an AC3 with it's "Make 5.1 AC3" option?
Is the .lst file a text file that specifies the path to each audio file?

I don't think BeSweet can do this, but I do believe HeadAc3he can.

HeadAc3he doesn't let you import WAVs, unless i'm doing something wrong.

You can create a 5.1 ac3 with Sonic Foundry's Soft Encode.

And you can import 6 wavs for each channels

I know all about SF Soft Encode. I have the demo, which doesn't do anything, and i'm aware that they recently came out with a new version.
But I want to know if 5.1 DD can be pulled off for free.

You can also use Maestro, or Scenarist to create a 5.1 AC3 audio track (I can't remember which it is though. Anyone?). You feed it 5 waves, one for each channel, and it creates the track for you. I'm suprised about the HeadAc3he not taking WAV, as I used to convert WAV audio all the time, but I haven't used it in about a year.

HeadAc3he will import stereo wav's and convert to other formats. It will NOT import 6 seperate wavs for conversion to Ac3.

Over the weekend I did a search through the doom9 forums and found that you could feed BeSweet the L, C, R, SL, SR, and LFE WAV files and it would make a 5.1 WAV or AC3.
I've tried to do this in BeSweet, and I failed.
Can an advanced user of BeSweet tell me exactly how this is done?

I'm using the lastest version (1.4 I think),

There is no error, I just don't see where you can load in the 6 wavs for conversion to a 5.1 AC3. When I tried, It encoded the wavs into 6 indiviudual AC3s.

The AC3 encoder that comes with Scenarist accepts WAV files to create a 5.1 AC3 stream. The program is good but have only used it for stereo WAV to 2 channel AC3.

BTW, is there any utitlty available that can demux the channels out of a 5.1 AC3 stream into WAV?

Use BeSweet. When choosing the output, select "Six Waves" and it'll create 6 mono wavs, one for each channel.

Maestro as a hardware/software combo comes with an MPEG1/2 encoder and an AC3/MPEGlayer2/PCM encoder, assuming you have an SDI input. Maestro the "authoring" app DOES NOT encode, it just authors and accepts the encoded files.
Scenarist does come with an additional AC3 encoder app, but AFAIK it is only 2ch, not 5.1 (could be wrong here).

If you do have the hardware combo, you could have added the additional AC3 5.1 encoding card. But it ain't cheap--and I don't know if it's still available for sale.
