  1. I seem to still get dropped frames, even though my system should be able to do it and I've tried to follow every tips I've found on this site.

My capturing system and config is like this:

    - Win98 (I'm trying 2000 now, XP didnt work well)
    - AMD XP2000+
    - 512MB DDR
    - Aopen Geforce 4 Ti4200 (Using newest drivers from nvidia.com)
    - IBM 40GB 7200rpm (DMA mode enabled)
    - Capturing using VirtualDub with MJPEG codec and PCM CD Quality sound. (MJPEG I found out worked best for me)

CPU Usage during the whole process is around 20%, and I got nothing else running during the process.
Still, I get around 300 dropped frames for each 60mins, this is at 704x528 (I went for high quality, instead of low quality and a few dropped frames less).

But lately I've tried to change the FPS I want it to capture at, when increasing it, I'm able to capture more than 25 FPS (as I'm capturing from PAL source), and not the usual 24.5 FPS, which is pretty strange. So if I increase it to capture at 40 FPS I will capture much more frames than I need. I will get the 25 frames I need, but I will get a couple extra, and many more dropped frames.

If you understand what I mean, I think this is pretty strange hehe
Any way of how to fix this, or how to delete the extra / dropped frames?

Hope I wrote what was needed for you guys, thanks alot for reading this.

For me, the key was capturing to a fast hard drive, with DMA turned on, as you already have. One idea might be to have two drives, one with windows etc on it, and the fastest drive used purely for capture. I have also read that you should disable write behind caching, and have your pc set up as a network server rather than a desktop pc.
