  1. The flyer said after rebates, it would be 19.99 for the 15 pack of Verbatim DVD+R at Best Buy, but I was surprised that the rebates had it down to $15 after rebates for the 15 pack!

That is about the best deal you are going to find.

Saw the ad too. Very good deal. Is there another rebate that dropped it to $15? The ad states $20 after all rebates. I just got in a BestBuy gift card from them. May just have to use that on the Verbatims.

  3. I shouldn't speak too quickly on the $15 total. That is what the price tag said, I didn't fill out the rebate forums yet. I'm pretty sure it was 39.99 with a $7 instant rebate.
So it is about $33 for 15, which is a pretty decent price in of itself.

Only good for a week people, don't miss out. These Discs are very good.

  4. The web site has $10 & $8 rebates for this item. Kind of confusing unless you can use both of them simultaneously ($18 off the $39 list price).

According to the sale flyer, this price is also good on 15-packs of Verbatim DVD-R's, not just +R's.

  6. For us 'locals', with an BestBuy around the corner, I was expecting to dish out 20 bucks, after rebates, for the dvd's. I got to the display and noticed, dvd+r was priced at 14.99, dvd-r was 19.99. 2.4X vs 2.0X, so I picked up 3 packs of dvd+r for my sony AX.
So you have to walk into the store, well the store I went into, Seattle, to get the 15 price.

  7. Yea I saw the ad too...good deal IMO. Plus I never had any rebates problems so far...gotten all mine back in the past. But I would get the DVD+R instead because of this note from Sony on their site. Not sure how long BB had them in stock.

    http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/mediainfo_na.htm

"Write errors may occur when using the following DVD-Rs with the Sony DRU-500A and DRX-500UL drives.

DVD-R for General manufactured by Verbatim Co., Ltd.:

The earlier versions of Verbatim branded 2X DVD-R media sold in USA and Canada regions before October 31, 2002."

  9. Yep, I finally looked at my receipts and I too can confirm it is 14.99

    It is 39.99 normally.
    $7 instant rebate
    $10 mail in rebate
    $8 main in rebate

Get 'em while they are hot
I don't see anything about a limit on how many you can buy either.

Limit one product per person as far as rebates are concerned.

I actually bought both the DVD-R and DVD+R, and noticed that the two (for DVD-R and DVD+R) BestBuy rebate offer numbers are exactly the same, while the Verbatim offers for DVD-R and DVD+R are different.
I asked CSRs, and they said it would be OK.
I also called BestBuy's rebate center and they stated that it will be alright as long as the SKUs are different, which they are of course...

Actually, it's "One Rebate per Household..." I guess that other members of your family cannot participate!

  13. I hope these are not the same Verbatim 1-4x media I bought from BestBuy a month ago as all 15 of them were defective in the last 500MB or outer edge of the discs.

  14. Yup...bought the DVD+R 15pack for 14.99 after rebate. I also bought some more 4x media by Verbatim and had no problems burning them at 4x either.

  15. Someone can try this...
If you go to Buy.com, there is a $15.00 rebate print out form for the same Verbatim dvd media. So that's 10 bucks!! The rebate form doesn't say anything about where you buy it. But it goes to the same address as the $10 rebate offer, that's how I came to $10 for 15...

  16. guys, I just came from Best Buy now, (Chicagoland area) to check on the deal, and it seems that there is some confusion. The deal may NOT be for DVD+R 15 Pack only. The only thing they were selling for $20 at store were -R, and $15 on the Bestbuy.com site are in fact DVD+R 15 pack Verbatim. So not sure now what's going on.

And also, they were unmarked for speed. Which makes me very doubtful that they will in fact be able to burn at 4x speed. And thats what I care about, is 4x speed.

If someone has bought these DVD-R, and have burned a full dvd
(4.27 GB) at 4x speed with their Sony DRU500A, I'd like to know.

Just came from my local bestbuy. They are dry on the -R. But did have some +R left. Even Bestbuy website is out of stock.

  18. Well I bought a pack of DVD+R, that's all I buy, from buy.com before the ad at bestbuy.com came out.
At buy.com the price was 39.99, free ship, -15 rebate.
A few day later, bestbuy can out with an ad that had dvd+r and dvd-r for 45 with 25 in rebates.
When I went to the store, the dvd+r was 5 cheaper than dvd-r. They had both in stock, this was at my local store.
As for the speed, the dvd+r are 2.4x, I holding the pack right now, reading it off the label. They look exactly the same from buy.com and bestbuy. The dvd-r were 2x. They did have dvd+r 4x, 10 for 30, but those didn't have rebates. This was at my store.
So, I was just thinking, use the buy.com 15 rebate on the bestbuy reciept, 10 bucks? final price. You have to open/download the rebate form on buy.com. The rebate didn't say anything about where you have to buy them.

Sorry for the bad news, but someone on another forum has already verified that BestBuy is NOT on the list of stores approved for the $15 rebate promotion that is available at buy.com
