  1. Hi,

I have a little problem here. I have an incomplete avi file which can be played in WMP but it is not possible to go forward or back. So I thought about finding a way to fix that but the only thing I found so far deals with mpg files. When I try to open the file in Div-Fix it says "This is not an avi file". Ok. On the net I found out that it's likely that it is an OggVobis codec (sorry if I mix up the terms). VirtualDub tells me that "asf data chunk not found". So, I don't know what to do now .. any ideas? I just want to be able to play the file and move fast forward or back ..

    Thanks for any help,
    Gwion

That sounds like it's probably an asf file that's been renamed to .avi. Since ASF is made to be a streaming format it has a setting to prevent seeking, you may be able to change it with ASFTools.
