making a 1:1 copy of a dual layer disc (not what you think)

i have a dual layer disc that is below 4.36gb in size.. dvddecypter says its dual layer.. i'm pretty sure it is a dual layer disc, because they're using 3.95gb layers, just not very much of the second layer..

my question is, can i rip this disc in iso mode through dvddecrypter and then burn it back to a dvd-r and expect it to act exactly as the original did?

I've had a few discs below 4.3G and just used DVD copy wizard in Nero - perfect backups

If I had to bet I would say absolutely. I think it's the "information" you are copying, so even if it's on a DVD-9, you should be able to accomplish that with no problem. Test it out on a RW first though. If you have another burning program, it's probably just much easier to rip in file mode or backup mode Smart Ripper or Decryptor and then burn with the burning program.

so there would not be a problem at the "layer change"?

I don't really use ISO mode often, but I do know it makes an image of the cd, I would just think because the information is sized where you could get it on a single layer dvd, you shouldn't have a problem in iso mode. I've never done it though. Try it out on a RW and report your results. It shouldn't take you longer then an hour in total time to test it.
