I used to have an Aspen TruVu capture card which I picked up off of ebay for a song. That card got fried so I now have a Hauppauge WinTV card which I also got fairly cheaply. It captures flawlessly with the wincap software that came with the card, however, I need to be able to segment captures as I am running Win98 SE. Enter good ole Virtual Dub, which drops frames right and left.Am using HuffyUV/YUY2 to compress, and VDub reports 45xx kbps to my 5400rpm HD. Any suggestions?

Use YUV2 colorspace and turn preview off and your dropped frames should be gone.

Are you capturing to your system drive, or a secondary drive?
Have you ensured all unnecessary background tasks are closed/disabled.
Does the drive have DMA enabled?
