I was just going through Best Buy's website and checking out some of the DVD+R and DVD-R media to see what was on sale. I saw that the Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R's were an instant $12 off off the original $45, and on top of that, there was an $8 mail in rebate. That's about as much of a steal as you can get. Getting a 15 pack for about $25. Anyway, as I scrolled down further, I noticed Best Buy now has a 50 pack spindle of VERBATIM 4x media, for $99!!! That is crazy, and I am going to have to get those. I was wondering if ANYONE has purchased these 4x Verbatim disks as of yet. And if so, how long does it take to burn a 4.37 GB movie? If it is a true 4x, I would think it would burn in about 10-15 minutes. Anyway, that is a crazy price for Verbatim disks anyway!

That is a very good deal. I saw it last night when i went to best buy to pick some discs up. Also i have used these discs and it takes around 15 minutes to burn a full disc.

The 2 best buy stores i have been in dont even carry -R media.
Which i find very strange.
-
Ive used the 5 pack of Verbatim 4x and they work great.
I may have to buy those ones from BBonline since the local stores here dont carry the 4x 50 pack. Just the 2.4x 50 packs. -
i don't know if it is still going on, but CompUSA had some great TDK 2X DVD-R on sale a week or so ago - 5 pack for 8 bucks. I bought a ton.
-
The CompUSA deal was a 4-pack with jewel cases for 8.99, and I'm pretty sure the deal ended on Saturday. I saw the ad and ran down to my local store; cleaned out seven 4-packs that they had left =D

I find it odd that best buy in my area carries dvd-r but are always out of verbatim 15 packs and usually only have the 5 packs from memorex for 17.50 which is decent but not great. However they have a multitude of dvd+r at cheap everyday prices, and they never run low on these. Seems to me they could sell a ton of dvd-r media if they stocked up, at least they could have sold it to me.
I guess they buy into the dvd+r thing without looking at their actual sales vs stock figures. Not that dvd+r is bad I just wish they treated them equal. I may be wrong but this is my rant. -
That is a misprint because I just bought the dvd+r verbatim at best buy and they are 2.4x not 4x like the website said. same price and I looked for another 50 pack. but all say 2.4x.

I bought a pack of 4x DVD+R Verbatims. It takes between 15 and 20 minutes to burn them. I did not time it exactly. Mine say 4X right on the disk.

I purchased the 4x...at least it said 4x on the website when I made my purchase and still says that in my order. I see they have changed the text description to say 2.4x. Though the picture they show is of the 4x spindle of 50. So I will wait to see what I get from them in the mail. If it is not 4x I guess it will simply go back.
By the way they also still show two other packages of Verbatim 4x DVD+R media. A 5 pack and a 10 pack (the latter is 9 +R and 1 +RW) at about $3 per disk. So 50 at $2 per disk doesn't seem that far out of line. -
Ahh, the saga of the 4x verbatim disks. Don't be fooled. best buy doesn't have any of the 50 packs @ 4x. I've ordered twice and both times I got the 2.4x instead. The second time I called up customer support, and they assured me that it was an error on the website. I also pointed out that the photo WAS of 4x media, but alas, I didn't get anywhere. I've now returned both spindles, but I have bought a couple of the 5 packs from the bb b&m and they write @3.9x on my dru-500a. I can't wait until bb actually has these 4x spidles instock!

I too ordered these twice and got the 2.4x each time. Bestbuy.com customer service was no help at all and only insisted that I return it. They wouldn't let me talk to a manager and they wouldn't look into the problems for me.Originally Posted by Evil4blue
Cancel your orders now if you have them since they clearly do not have any 4x 50-packs. They have now changed the product description, but they overlooked the picture as you pointed out. I had never done business with Bestbuy.com before and I don't think I will do anymore in the future. I only hope they get my card credited for the full amount plus return shipping soon!
I thought that $2 was too good of a deal for that.
I was visiting Verbatim's web site earlier and noticed they put up the product info on a single pack of DVD+r 4x media. However, nothing for a 50 pack. So, I played with the Product ID number on the end of the URL and found a 50 pack spindle of 4x DVD-R on their site. It appears this is not to be published yet, but I would suspect it is coming soon. See here: http://www.verbatim.com/products/products.cfm?pro_id=406
I took the product number I found there and found it is listed at CDW and is expected in - in a few days. Do you think Verbatim 4x DVD-R media would be worth $3 a piece? See Here: http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.asp?EDC=467870
Maybe this is the only hope I have of getting writable 4x media for my Sony DRU-500A...

Yup, the 50 pack I received from best buy was only rated at 2.4x as well. It's going back tomorrow.

@Digitoast I think that would of been cool to come on here and post that sale from CompUsa. Drewson could of done the same. It's pretty screwed up when people just take information from this site and not give any help. I can understand when people can't offer help because they don't comprehend much as it is, but to come on and say, Hey, here is a sale on this TDK media, jump on it at your local CompUsa, that isn't asking much. It may of taken five seconds to write that. Now you post the information and the sale is over. The CompUSA deal was a 4-pack with jewel cases for 8.99, and I'm pretty sure the deal ended on Saturday. I saw the ad and ran down to my local store; cleaned out seven 4-packs that they had left =D
