I recently try to use the Dazzle DVC 1 (USB) to try to capture video from VHS tape to CD. Using a Celeron 500, I encounter the following problem:
I was trying to capture Video in 352x240 NTSC format. After 12 minutes, it freezes on me and no longer functioning. I have todo it all over again and set the time limit to 10 minutes.
Even that, the quality of the video, both in MPG format or in DAT format, is of poor quality. i have to use the word not acceptable.
Does DVC2 will provide a better result, or is it my machine is too slow for it?

I recently bought DVC II .I haven't tried recording more than 5 mins. I have some other problem. read http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=58095&forum=2&0 this.
I think the DVC II also has the same problem. But it seems like it crashes after 70 mins. read http://www.vcdhelp.com/reviews/DVCII/dvc2.htm this. -
I don't think your machine too slow. Mine is AMD 333MHz and worked fine for a while. Now the quality of the picture is not as good (fuzzy noise). The DVC2 is for DV camcorder, I think.

Oops, I made a mistake
. Mine that is working good is Dazzle DVC 2. Hence, it may better than yours. But I am still not satisfied.

thanks for the feedback. I think I'll return the DVC 1 and get the DVC2 for a try instead. I'll try to capture the video in MPG2 then convert it to VCD and see what happen. I may not have the problem that you have regarding crashes after 74 minutes. I only want to keep each file to be within 60 minutes anyway. By the way, if I capture the video for longer than I want, does the DVC2 able to split it into two files?
