  1. Ok. I wanted to buy a fairly cheap tv card. I want it to mostly capture videos from a vcr and also capture stuff from digital TV. I don't have much money.
I was looking at either a WinTV primo FM or the ATI Tv Wonder. Which one is better? Should I bother getting either or are they both crap? Is there anything better with in the same sort of price range?
I'd be using them with Win2k and I have a fairly crappy PC.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Oh yeah sorry.

I'm not too bothered about the software it comes with because I would probably use somthing else like Ulead mediastudio or virtual dub if possible.

    Thanks

  5. Well if don't mind capturing in the AVI format then the hamppuage WINTV PCI card for $49 does a good job, and you can use vituraldub with it no problem, just be prepared to end up with very large files, also this card does the best at the 352x240 resolution for which you can do VCD's.
You will need something to encode to MPEG1 VCD, TMPGE is good and its free.

If the output is decoded then yes, otherwise no, the basic card is not a digital card, but the company does do the digital TV cards also.

If you use this card to capture DivX Avi's they are very small and reasonable.

  8. WinTV Theater was my choice, Digital works off my Dish receiver just peachy. Had minor problem setting up audio capture, but it was computer sound setup, not card. Capture software works ok, get Huffy code or Pic video (was free at one time, not now). about $100 or so.
