    Hi,
I just got a Samsung DVD-S221 Player. I finally fixed the problem where it skipped frames a lot, the simple solution was to burn on CD-Rs not CD-RW, didnt skip a beat. Also remember to burn it at 2x not 4x, otherwise a 5-10 second skip may happen.
Now CD-RWs skip a lot with my DVD Player no matter what encoder I used, TMPEGEnc, CCE and burning with VCDEasy,Nero, or VCDImagerGUI. They skip some scenes but I dont know whats the problem, why should CDRs work great why CD-RWs dont, my dvd player does support CD-RWs..
Maybe some solutions I think are which I havent tried:

    - Erase the CD completely(I use Quick Erase in Nero which takes a min)
    Should that matter?
    -Use different CD-RWs brands
I have used Maxell and Verbatim CD-RWs with no luck.

    What do you think?
    Please help with any solutions.
    Thanks.

Probably it's laser and/or sensor setup isn't strong or sensitive enough, CDRWs are a lot darker than CDRs (only reflect about 2/3 of the light in comparison) and so there's less contrast between the laser reflecting and being scattered to make the 1's and 0's... perhaps it's right on the borderline and works with it -some- of the time... or slows the reading speed down so action scenes don't work right. Hardware prob, i'm afraid. Just keep using the cheap CDRs

PS What CDRs do you use, my uncle is adamant that 'DVD copies' ie VCDs should work on his Samsung player if he finds a multi-region code, but as far as I can see it's not even able to read the CDR.. mebbe if I tried a different brand? before his brain snaps? (he has some very odd ideas about electronic equipment and many other things, that cant be changed...)

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

I think you are right since I just watched the entire Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and it was beautiful. I was using some cheap CD-Rs i got at my local canadian retailer, futureshop. Its called Smart Buy, I got a 10 pack for 99 cents on boxing day(WOHOO!) but right now you can buy it at futureshop or i think Best Buy for USA for 8.99$CDN, 6$US.
It works great even with these cheap CDRs, as a lot of people with Samsung players reported. I doubt your dad's right about the CDRs (lol my dad also has his different solutions to electronic problems). If your brand was generic, I would use a better brand to try but in my opinion I think most probably its due to how he 'burnt' it. It took me a LONG time burning so many CD-RWs when I finally realized the stupid problem.
What program did he use? Is his samsung player compatibile with VCDs, did u check in the compatibility list on vcdhelp.com?
    :P Good luck!
