I am capturing on my ATI 8500DV AIW directly into DV AVI Format to Ulead ViedoStudio 6. When It comes time in PS to save the video, I choose the Divx Codec v5.0.2 and a 640x480 resolution. My problem is the size of the output. My main issue is size and I want the smallest file with little to no loss in quality, thus the Divx codec. The size of 1 minute of footage is 33 Mb. Now, when I see Divx AVi rips of movies out there, I see 90 minute movies that take up only 700 Mb and seemingly maintain the DVD quality. That works out to 7.7 Mb per Minute of footage. How is that 7.7/1 ratio reached when I am only getting a 33/1 ratio? What Codec are they using? TIA!

Most of the time when I download DVD Rips, they are using the "DivX
MPEG-4 Low-Motion" Codec.
Hope That Helps!!!:P

Your bitrate setting is probably too high. You can find more info at
www.divx.com
and
www.xvid.org
in regards to options for the codec. Chances are Video Studio is not exposing all of the codec options.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
