I am looking for help on purchasing a good DVD Player. I want one that will play VCD and SVCD. I also want one that will play DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. And of course CDR and CDRW. I don't want to spend to much, but money is not the factor here. Let me know you recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Wow thanks for the non helpful post. I went through this, but since most people don't post correct information it is not very helpful. I have a JVC right now and according to the DVD Player list it plays all the DVD recordable media. Guess what, it does not. So if anyone else out there can make a good recommendation, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,

That's the exact answer I would have given you. You ask about DVD Players you get refered to the DVD Player list, it only makes since.
Think about what you said. The same people who post there, post here. Plus, at least that list is updated and checked. So go by what the list says and try them out for yourself at the store. Then you're sure to get the options you want.Originally Posted by vincentw56
Maybe its a different serial, or you had a bad disk. If people test a player and it works they add it. They call it as they see it, so if you have variables that are different from theirs your outcome maybe different. Don't knock the list because of one flaw, when operator error could always be factored in.Originally Posted by vincentw56 -
I had the same problem. My Pioneer player was listed as playing different disks, but nothing worked for me. I went to Wal-Mart and bought that el' cheapo Apex AD-1100W for $50. It's played every disk I've made so far. Generic CD-RW, Generic DVD-RW, Verbatim DVD-R, Memorex DVD+RW, Sony DVD+RW, and the $0.95 Accu DVD-R from Meritline.com
And, if it doesn't work for you, wrap it back in the plastic and take it back to Wal-Mart for a refund.

Thanks for the response. From what everyone is saying is that the Apex's are pretty good a playing just about everything. I will keep trying. Of course, I cannot find the 1100's anywhere.

The only thing I have tried that Apex didn't take were Panasonic DMR-HS2 burned disks. I'm happy with my Samsung 711 though.
