I am trying to burn a data dvd on a mitsubishi dvd+r, using a sony dru500a and nero5.5.9.17, and I have created three beautiful coasters always with the same error message
"could not perform end of disk"

What could be the cause for this?

    What could be the solutions?

    Thanks

  2. First of all, go to http://sony.storragesupport.com and download the firmware upgrade for the dru50a.

Secondly, I've seen many postings about probs with Nero, so make sure you try using the software that came with the drive.

  3. Try -R media. I am pretty sure I've seen reports about Nero having problems closing sessions with the Sony DRU-500a drive when using +R media.

The problem is your Nero version. From what I've heard, v. 5.5.9.17 works fine, 5.5.9.17.1 doesn't (I've DRU500, but no DVD+R discs, so I haven't tested this).

  5. There is an post with sulution for disks that are not closed. Maybe you can still fix them and move them from underneath coffe cup to DVD player.

I was having the same trouble with my sony DRU-500a(firmware 1.0d) and verbatim +R media. made 2 coasters that would not finalize.

My roomate just bought the sony extermal and we said hey why not try to add some data to these lovely coasters with his. So we did and my data shows up his does not after the burn(seems as though the table of contents was fubared) we both have the same Nero v. 5.5.9.17 just his is using USB 2.0 instead of IDE(mine is internal)

Now mind you that same media burns just fine in the RecordNow software that came with the burner so for now i will be backing up with that till Nero figures out +R media. ALSO DVDdecrypter burns just fine to that media.

    Hope this helps some.
