    I have burnt my first vcd, and it works ok on my computer but when I try to play it on my stand alone dvd player sony (I think it's ss 300) I only see black and white but the sound and everything is ok, does anybody have an idea ?

    You are trying to play a PAL VCD on hardware that is only capable of playing NTSC (correctly). Or vice versa. You need to convert the file to the format of your region.
