I am running WinXP Pro on a P4 1.5 ghz, with 256mb of RDRAM, and a geforce2 MX400 card.
Sometimes, when I'm playing back an AVI (Huffy compressed) or MPG in Media Player or NVDVD, I get occasional jerkiness. It will be playing along fine for 10 minutes or so, and then it starts hitting the harddrive. I have defragged, so that's not the issue.
Are there some services that I can shut off? Could it be something like the XP Indexing service? What about other stuff?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ah ha. I found that Indexing was indeed running. I shut it off and it reduced, if not completely eliminated, the occasional jerkiness.
