  1. Hi I've been capturing and encoding for quite awhile now from AVI to VCD. The quality is good, but I wanted better quality so I tried SVCD. I captured a 3 minute video clip in Vdub using PICVideo with a quality of 18 and a resolution of 480x480, and then encoded in TMPGEnc using the SVCD NTSC template. The quality seems to be the same as my VCD films. What are good settings to use when trying to make a svcd. Thanks

It could be that your source file that you captured onto your hardrive was of low quality.

From the Wizard, I use the template that allows 60 minutes on a 700MB CDR.
    Then I select:

Rate Control Mode: 2 pass VBR
    Motion Search Precision: Highest Quality

I would recommend setting the motion search precision to High quality (slow) as it speeds up the encoding time compared to Highest quality (slowest) and you can't tell the difference between the two. Also, VBR can definately make the output look good.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P
