  1. Hello

I have captured video clips from my camcorder with the entry level Dazzle 50 which caputres as AVI.
    I used AVI2MPEG and ended up with a 320x240 MPEG1.
When I tried to load it into VCDEasy to burn it, I got a message that it's not compatible with NTSC.
I re-converted the AVI specifying 352x240 . Now VCDEasy does not complain, but the MPEG is messed up, both audio and video.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Kevin

You want to convert an AVI file to VCD, not just to MPEG1. You want a Lamborghini, so you ask a dealer just for "a car" and cannot figure out why he brings you a Ford, and not the Countache.

Keep that in mind as you try your next conversion: You want a VCD, not just a MPEG-1 file. To get a file suitable for VCDs, you need an encoder, like TMPGEnc. You convert your captured file into a VCD-compliant MPEG-1 file. This will burn properly into your VCD.
    Hello.

  3. I am not sure I get the pun, but thank you for your help

But I still don't understand why bbMPEG's AVI2MPEG does not produce a "VCD-worthy" MPEG and TMPGenc can?? In both cases you'd end up with an MPEG that you'd still need VCDEasy to burn onto a VCD...

    Thanks again

  4. Because 90% of the MPEG utilities available in the public domain is trash. There's audio-timing issues and other arcane prblem areas that have to be dealt with properly. This is where TMPGEnc comes in. Use it to create a proper System .mpg file, then use VCDEasy to create the disc image.

giguy, it might be that you burnt your VCD at a high speed. Also, it may be that your source is low quality. Also, can you tell us more about your source file and your encoding steps? :P
