  1. Hi,

I've managed to download a DRM-protected video using WidevineProxy2 + N_m3u8DL_RE (+ mp4decrypt + ffmpeg) and some wvd files I found in a sticky thread on this forum. However, the video is still encrypted when I play it with VLC.
I may be wrong, but the only way I can explain it is that the wvd file I used(I tried with different ones) is no more valid.
So, I have the following questions :
    1. Is there any quick way (like using a command-line tool for example) I can verify a wvd file is still valid before using it to download and decrypt DRM-protected videos?
    2. Could someone provide me with a wvd file (or a remote.json file that works with WidevineProxy2) which is valid as of today? This will help me at least check that it is the single point of failure in my setup.

PS: I read the sticky post about creating my own wvd files using android studio. I tried it until I found my PC is too old for that(VT-x missing), and replacing it is not an option right now.

    from the command line run
    Code:
pywidevine test <name of wvd including extension>
That will test if it it working
    use
    Code:
    pywidevine --help
to see what else it can do.

  3. Thank you for your reply.
So, I installed pywidevine and ran the test command on one of the wvd file I used previously to download the video.
    Code:
    pipx run pywidevine test ../WidevineProxy2/2453587260.wvd
From what I can tell from the test result displayed on the console, the wvd file seems fine.

So I tried downloading the same file again using the wvd file I had just tested, but it failed again. The downloaded video is still encrypted.

Here are the steps I followed:
    1. Test the wvd file is valid using pywidevine
    2. Select that wvd file as the one to use inside WidevineProxy2's user interface
    3. Launch the video I want to download in the browser
    4. Copy the N_m3u8DL_RE command (containing multiple "--key" switches) generated by WidevineProxy2
    5. Paste that command into the console and run it
    6. Select the video and audio streams listed by N_m3u8DL_RE to download, and press "Enter"
    7. Play the video with VLC once the download is complete.

    So what I'm I missing?
    Any help appreciated.

you need check KID in N_m3u8DL_RE to see if it match KID:key. if not it mean there no keys for 1080p/4K. so try download 720p 540p to see it match your KID:key

give us video URL so we can look in to it

I copy the N_m3u8DL_RE command generated by WidevineProxy2 as is, and paste it into the console without any modification. (and that command contains as many "--key KID:key" as there are audio and video streams to download. Also, to prevent any mistmatch between a keys pair and a downloadable stream, I select all the streams when prompted by N_m3u8FL_RE to select which streams I want to download (the size of the file for each resolution is not that big):

Wouldn't I be breaking the forum rules if I did that, since the video isn't publicly available?

P.S: If it can help troubleshooting, after replacing the url and the keys with values between angle brackets, the command generated by WidevineProxy2 looks like this :

    N_m3u8DL-RE "<url>" -H "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:140.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/140.0" -H "Accept: */*" -H "Referer: https://webplay.mp2.fastevo.net/" -H "Origin: https://webplay.mp2.fastevo.net" -H "DNT: 1" -H "Sec-GPC: 1" --key <key_id_1>:<decryption_key_1> --key <key_id_2>:<decryption_key_2> --key <key_id_3>:<decryption_key_3> --key <key_id_4>:<decryption_key_4> --key <key_id_5>:<decryption_key_5> --key <key_id_6>:<decryption_key_6> --key <key_id_7>:<decryption_key_7> --key <key_id_8>:<decryption_key_8> -M format=mkv
