  1. I have been using ffmpeg daily for at least 6 years, possibly more. I use the Windows version downloaded from gyan.dev almost exclusively, and it's my preferred tool.

I have found and documented a serious regression between V8.0.1 and V8.0, and possibly some between V7.1.1 and V8.0. I would like to get this back to the builder so he can look at them, but I'm having difficulty finding a forum that is accessible with a reasonable amount of effort, but can't find one that even has reasonable descriptions of how to participate other than this one. Videohelp.com is much easier to use than most other forums, can I post my results here? They are all in text and not very large.

ffmpeg bugs are reported there: https://trac.ffmpeg.org

Note: Don't expect that anyone will care about your bug. Experience shows that they don't care much.

Experience shows that someone will address the error. Whether they fix it is another matter
And the author should first describe what the error is.

  5. I am attaching two files. They contain captures of converting a video from h264 to hevc using ffmpeg and QSV hardware. When I use V8.0 or earlier, everything is fine. With V8.0.1 it goes bezerk, it rejects every frame throwing Error creating a MFX session and Error initializing an MFX session and other errors for every frame: possibly multiple times per frame. Since absolutely nothing changes other than the version of ffmpeg there must be a coding error. I think I can dig up other errors between V7.1.1 and V8.0 but I want to see some sort of positive response which would show it's worthwhile letting developers know about faults first.

I have looked at trac.ffmpeg.org but I'd rather not go through another registration maze unless there is no other option. Since this topic stream is specifically labeled to be about the ffmpeg releases from one specific source I would think that these messages would be getting to him.
