    how can I remove brightness flickering on old vhs videos?

    You'll have to provide a short sample. It's very difficult to advise if we don't know what we're dealing with exactly.

    Snip 15 seconds of your capture, showing the flickering, and attach it here. You can use AVIDemux following my guide here.

  4. I use Deflicker followed by MDegrain with DCT=1 (very important parameter). You don't need to use much degraining, although for VHS you will probably find its noise reduction to be beneficial. I described more in this old post:
