Got this home made DivX AVI (made with EasyDivX) with MP3 sound. VDub tells me I'm lacking codec and cant determine which to use. If I Save wav, it dumps a wav, and when I click on that, Winamp say that I'm mising MP3 ACM codec. If I rename it to .mp3, Winamp plays it fine. Media Player crashes when I throw the AVI at it (when doesn't it?), but DivX player plays it fine.
TMPGEnc won't accept the AVI as video input, but seems to like it as audio input?!?
Just reinstalled Nimo codec pack to no avail!

    Ideas, folks?

This will help. Reports all kinds of usefull DIVX info, including codecs, whether they are installed, etc..

Well, it shows that I have all codecs, but that DirectShow was unable to play the file. Damned - what's wrong? Never had probs like this before...

  4. I had a similar problem recently, although the codec I was missing was the Frauenhoffer IIS MPEG Layer3 Codec. (http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/)

I downloaded & installed the codec and now find if I run the .AVI through VirtualDub like so:

    a) Open up the .AVI in VD.
    b) Leave the Audio setting on Direct Stream Copy
    c) Change the Video Setting to full processing mode and select DivX 5.0 as the compression codec.
    d) Save as .AVI

Once this has finished, I can open up the new .AVI in TMPGEnc and convert to MP2 (SVCD).

It takes a little time, but stay with it for near perfect results.

  6. For anyone else having the same problem, you can read about ACM, MP3 and Frauenhoffer at the following URL
